Love Mexican Food? Make a Reservation at These OC Restaurants!

Mexican food is a favorite among food lovers all around the world, and Orange County is among one of the best places outside of Mexico to get it. If you’ve been craving some irresistible cuisine lately, allow us to spoil you with three of our favorite spots in the best county in California. ¡Disfrutar!

Playa Mesa (Costa Mesa)

Playa Mesa was founded in 2018 and took a refreshing approach to serve traditional Mexican food and drink. Its flavors are inspired by those found in coastal Baja and mainland Mexico. The dishes on the menu are prepared with the same farm-fresh ingredients, and time-honored techniques handed down for generations and are inspired by journeys and personal experiences throughout Mexico, including Ensenada, Jalisco, Michoacán, and Oaxaca.

“My husband and I visited Playa Mesa this past weekend. It was our first time and we were beyond pleased with the whole experience. Our server, Marcos, was wonderful and made our first time not to be our last. The food was delicious. I had the shrimp enchiladas and my husband the birra tacos. Both dishes had a great presentation and were flavorful. The café de la Olla was amazing! Overall a great experience for us and we’ll definitely be returning.” – M. Mich E., Rosemead, CA

Sabroso! Mexican Grill (Garden Grove)

The Mexican restaurant, Sabroso! is run and owned by a family. The company was started in 2012 by Tito Munoz and his children. Tito has been able to communicate a unique aspect of his hometown of Guerrero, Mexico. Every meal is made by hand using traditional family recipes that have been handed down through many generations. Hundreds of customers still flock to Sabroso! Mexican Grill today is in quest of authentic, flavorful Mexican food, and Tito and his children, together with a select number of people, continue to serve them.

“Love the family owned business. Very welcoming people, and every good thing everyone says about the chamorro is true. Took the wife and kids for lunch today after visiting an attraction nearby. Will be back next time I’m in the area!” – Ka V, Los Angeles

Carmelita’s (Laguna Beach)

Grilled fish tacos? Spinach enchiladas? Blackened burritos? What’s not to love here at Carmelita’s? Delighting guests with their authentic cuisine since 2012, they also specialize in margaritas. They make all of their desserts in-house. Traditional Mexican art, handmade stone, walnut wood, and an original lighting design decorate the interior. Their expectations for hospitality go above and beyond to ensure every guest walks out not only full – but happy, as well!

“First time in tonight and pleasantly surprised. From the service to the food and drink, everything was perfect. Tatum was very hospitable and had excellent suggestions. Thank you for the great service, next time I’m in the area I’ll be back!” – D.F. Tamecula, CA
