Things to Do In Orange County October 7, 8 & 9, 2022

1. Apple Picking in Oak Glen

Apple picking is one of many wonderful things to do in Orange County in fall. Take the kids with you to Oak Glen and explore apple country. There are several beautiful apple orchards in the five mile loop of Oak Glen road.

In Oak Glen, you’ll find an abundance of red and green apples, cider, baked goodies all for great prices. Some of the orchards, like Riley’s Los Rios Rancho, offer live music performances, cider pressing, and a corn maze which is a favorite amongst kids.

2. Knott’s Spooky Farm

Halloween is fun for kids and adults alike and if you are in the mood to celebrate the spooky season, you will want to check out Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park. Have your child dress up in their favorite costume, whether that be a ghost, pirate, skeleton, or whatever their little festive heart desires, and they can trick-or-treat around the Calico shops.

3. “Nightmare” Halloween Boo-tique

Halloween is a truly magical time at Roger’s Gardens in Corona Del Mar. You can take a virtual tour of the gardens on their website before you visit in-person. The gardens showcase spectacular Halloween decor and fresh pumpkins that are available for purchase at the shop in-store and online. You can also learn more about the artists behind all the eerily beautiful designs. The garden’s previous boutique themes were ‘Malice in Wonderland’ (2019) and ‘Hocus Pocus’ (2018). This year’s theme is based on a classic Halloween film, The Nightmare Before Christmas.

4. Hamilton

If you’re a fan of musical theater and American historical drama, you can check out Hamilton at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. The acclaimed Broadway play focuses on one of America’s founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton, and attracts many audiences with its unique blend of hip-hop, jazz, and R&B. Hamilton has made its mark in the theater community for its political and cultural significance.

5. Kids Play with Goats

Do you love animals, specifically goats? Come visit the petting zoo at the Goods and Goat Market in San Juan Capistrano to play with some adorable goats. This event is fun for both kids and adults! Not only can you pet, cuddle, and play with the goats, but you can also explore their worm garden and feed farm animals like hens and roosters! If you’re feeling adventurous, they also have a zipline that you can take a ride on.

6. Family DIY Class at AR Workshop

Bring the whole family along with you for a DIY class hosted by AR Workshop in San Juan Capistrano. This is a great place to learn how to make your very own wood project. The workshop offers non-toxic, designer paints and stain colors that you can use to customize your art.
