6 of the Best Thrill Rides at Knott’s Berry Farm

Knott’s Berry Farm is a popular amusement park located in Buena Park, California. The park is home to a variety of thrill rides, including roller coasters, drop towers, and spinning rides. If you’re looking for something more adventurous that—let’s face it—Disneyland or Universal Studios fails to offer, then head on over to Knott’s Berry Farm!

1. Xcelerator

This roller coaster is notable for its launch system which propels riders from 0 to 82 miles per hour in 2.3 seconds. The ride features a combination of twists, turns, and overbanked curves, and, as already mentioned, a top speed of 82 mph.

The coaster starts with a launch that takes riders up a steep incline to the top of the track. This is followed by a steep drop and a series of high-speed turns and twists, culminating in a final high-speed stretch. The coaster is considered to be one of the most popular thrill rides at Knott’s Berry Farm and is a favorite among roller coaster enthusiasts. With an intense launch and a series of thrilling twists and turns, Xcelerator is a must-ride for thrill-seekers visiting the park.

2. GhostRider

GhostRider is one of the longest wooden roller coasters in the world, spanning over 4,500 feet. It is known for its unique wooden structure, which gives it a traditional and classic feel. The queue for the coaster is often very long because it is undoubtedly one of the must-see rides at the amusement park.

The coaster features a 116-foot drop and reaches speeds of up to 56 mph. It features a series of hills, drops, and turns that provide a smooth and thrilling ride experience. If you want something a little more hardcore, we recommend riding it at night. If you can’t see the twists and turns coming up, your adrenaline spikes up by a lot!

3. Silver Bullet

The Silver Bullet is a steel inverted roller coaster manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard that is characterized by a 105-foot (32 m) lift hill, a top speed of 55 mph (89 km/h), and a track length of 2,980 feet (908 m). The coaster features five inversions including a vertical loop, a zero-g roll, a batwing, an inclined loop, and a corkscrew. The ride opened in 1999 and is one of the most popular attractions at the park, known for its smooth ride and intense inversions.

4. Supreme Scream

Supreme Scream is a drop tower ride that’ll make your insides feel like they want to be outside! The ride features a tower that stands 300 feet (91 m) tall. This makes it one of the tallest drop towers in the world. The ride takes riders to the top of the tower, then drops them back to the ground at a speed of up to 50 mph (80 km/h).

Supreme Scream opened in 1998 and is one of the most popular attractions at the park. It is known for its intense drops and spectacular views of the surrounding area. Indeed, there’s nothing quite like seeing the beauty of Knott’s Berry Farm before hearing the sound of your impending doom.

5. Montezooma’s Revenge

This steel shuttle roller coaster has a unique launch system that propels riders from 0 to 55 mph in just four seconds, propelling the train from the station, through one inversion—a loop—and back to the station for a total of 1,245 feet (379 m). It also features a steep, vertical lift hill that will have you feeling like you’re about to fall!

The ride opened in 1977 and is one of the oldest roller coasters at the park. Unfortunately, it is currently closed for renovations but is scheduled to be reopened during the summer of 2023. Catch it then once it reopens—with new ideas and innovations, it’s bound to be an improved version of the roller coaster we all know and love.

6. Hangtime

One of the newest additions to Knott’s Berry Farm, Hangtime was first opened in 2018. It has since been catapulted to one of the most popular rides in the park ever. Manufactured by Gerstlauer, this steel roller coaster is the only dive coaster in California. It is known for its beyond-vertical drop and 96-degree drop. It also features a track length of 2,198 feet and five inversions, including a dive loop, a zero-g roll, a cobra roll, a heartline roll, and a stall loop!

With a top speed of 57 mph on a smooth yet intense ride, Hangtime will literally make you feel like you’re on hangtime. In fact, at one point during the ride, you’ll be on an inverted loop that almost makes you float weightlessly toward the ground, supported only by the roller coaster bars. Cowabunga!

Conclusion

These are just a few of the many thrill rides that Knott’s Berry Farm has to offer. The park also features a variety of other rides and attractions, including family-friendly rides, shows, and live entertainment. There are also several dining and shopping options available throughout the park. This includes what the park was originally intended for—boysenberry!

It is also a great place for chill tourists who just want to spend the day out in the sun. With a mix of classic and modern rides, it’s a great place to spend a day with friends and family.
