Here Are Some Weekend Things To Do Orange County

The OC always provides a plethora of events to excite and delight, and this week is no exception. If you want things to do, Orange County, look no further. Here are our top picks for the next few days.

Wyland’s Art Lessons In The Wild and Whale Watching Trip

This Saturday the 7th of April, grab the youngsters and head to Dana Point, where the boat’s leaving at 9 AM. Once on board, celebrated marine muralist Wyland will instruct the class for one hour via video feed. Your kids will get an art lesson from a master, and then for next two hours, there will be a whale watching tour. This is a fun opportunity for your children to be exposed to the arts and nature all at the same time.

Taking Shape: Degas as Sculptor

This weekend you can see the Degas as Sculptor exhibition at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena before it moves on. Here are exhibited some of the rarer works by the renowned artist, including the first and only set of bronze statuettes cast from the original wax and plaster versions. The improvisational nature of these pieces suggests where his style would take him in later years. There is a discounted rate for children, so take advantage of this opportunity before the feature packs up on Sunday.

Food and Wine Festival Disney California

With your paid admission to Disneyland Resort this weekend, you’ll get to check out the Food and Wine Festival, perfect for foodies of all ages. There will be thirteen marketplaces, each one offering tasting menus with ethnic cuisines of all styles and flavors. Included are family-friendly seminars where you can discover new recipes and cooking techniques that you can incorporate into your kitchen capers afterward. There are even musical cooking shows featuring some of the costumed characters that you know and love.

Whether it’s culinary concoctions that attract you the most or the chance to see some wildlife or art, this weekend there’s plenty for all interests. With so much to occupy the kids too, be sure to bring them along, and their happy smiles at the end of the day will be your biggest reward. Enjoy the spring, and we’ll be back next time with some more suggestions for the whole family.
