These Orange County Events Will Be Fun For Your Kids

It’s a new year, and as always, there’s no shortage of fun, family-friendly events in Orange County that should provide a welcome diversion for your kids. Here are a few on which we’ve got our eye over the next couple of weeks.

Winter Fest OC

Some kids lament not getting to play in the snow in the OC, while other parts of the country get to enjoy some of the traditional winter activities. Your child can go sledding and get in snowball fights at Winter Fest OC in Costa Mesa, at the OC Fair and Event Center, running until January 6th. They can go ice tubing down an 8-lane, 150-foot mountain, and there’s a separate slide area for toddlers. Fresh snow is blown in daily, and there’s also an enormous outdoor ice rink for skating. Every night there is a Christmas tree lighting with a parade of fun winter characters. There are also seasonal eateries dishing up some tasty treats, and 20 different carnival rides.

Holiday Trains at the Nixon Library

Running through January 8th in Yorba Linda at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, the Holiday Trains event is sure to captivate the young train lover in your family. There will be a huge display of miniature and model trains, and the annual Pat Nixon White House Gingerbread House will be there for viewing as well. New this year, there’s also a 20-foot tall Nixon White House Christmas Tree, decked out in patriotic red, white, and blue.

Celebrate Martin Luther King Junior Day at Pretend City

On January 21st, your kids can learn about beloved civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., at the Pretend City Children’s Museum in Irvine. There will be an introduction and then an open forum where the values espoused by Dr. King will be discussed. This presents a perfect opportunity for your little ones to learn about the importance of respecting diversity and aspiring toward equality. The cost of the forum is included with admission to the museum.

That’s it for this edition of events in Orange County. This blog comes to you from Toyota of Orange, bringing you quality used cars near Santa Ana this new year.
