This year the Wellness Together School Mental Health in collaboration with the California Department of Education, presents the 2020 California Student Mental Wellness Conference (CASMWC). The event offers you an incredible opportunity to unite with more than a thousand mental health service providers and educators to learn from the most leading entities in student mental health wellness.

You will learn:

  • How to apply practical skills to have better mental health 
  • How to promote and encourage mental wellness
  • Understanding the significance of mental health both for students and educators 
  • How to create a positive and safe school environment 
  • How to increase student learning by reducing social-emotional barriers

Keynote presenters

The conference offers you a great opportunity to hear from the world’s leading bodies who have proven experience in student mental health wellness. They will help you understand how to promote & encourage student mental wellness and create a reliable school environment. 

Nadine Burke Harris, MD, MPH, FAAP, is a researcher, physician and advocate. She has dedicated her life to change the way our society reacts to the most important, serious, widespread and expensive public-health crisis of this age – childhood trauma. 

Julie Lythcott-Haims, MFA, JDis fhJ, is the author of ‘How to Raise an Adult: Break Free of the Overparenting Trap and Prepare Your Kid for Success’ (2015), the New York Times bestseller, and ‘the Real American: A Memoir’ (2017). Julie is known for fiercely criticising the popular trend of parental involvement in the lives of young college students.

Steven C. Hayes, Ph.D., is the developer of a popular evidence-based type of psychotherapy namely the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT uses acceptance, mindfulness and values-based techniques to help many people in a wide range of areas. He is also a Foundation Professor at the University of Nevada in the department of Psychology within the Behaviour Analysis Initiative. Steven has written 45 books and more than 625 scientific articles. 

Sir Ken Robinson, Ph.D., is famous for introducing innovation and creativity in education. People view the videos of his famous lectures at the TED Conference in over 150 countries. He has also received several awards for his immensely significant contributions. Sir Ken’s name was included in the Thinkers 50 list. 

Elisha Smith Arrillaga, Ph.D., has been serving as the Executive Director of the Education Trust-West. It is an advocacy and research institution that supports the achievements of California students and educational justice with a particular focus on overlooked students who come from low-income families. She also leads the organization’s operations involving education as a key economic and racial justice issue. Elisha has expertise in leading programs using multiple sets of strategies for influencing state policy and has been a keynote speaker at various other Orange County events

Stephen Sroka, Ph.D. has served in schools all over the world for 30 years. His skills include providing cutting edge information and delivering motivational presentations translating theory into practical applications. Currently, he is serving at the School of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University as an Adjunct Assistant Professor. Stephen is a teacher, an author, and an educational consultant on bullying, health education, proactive prevention education, brain-based learning, school safety, alternative-education, and dropout prevention. His leadership skills in building communities and schools is exceptional.
