Say Yes to National Camping Month with these OC Campgrounds!

National Camping Month has been celebrated annually during the month of June for 5 decades now. It is used as a way to promote outdoor activities. So, what sort of breathtaking scenery does California’s best county have to offer for your perfect camping trip? We’re glad you asked! We have researched where local residents love to camp the most, and now we’re ready to share them with you so that you put visiting these hotspots on your list of things to do in Orange County!

Crystal Cove State Park (Laguna Beach)

Want a fantastic camping spot near the shoreline? Then look no further than Crystal Cove State Park! You will enjoy the beaches, the waves, as well as the park’s history. That’s right! This park is home to archaeological sites as well as artifacts from the native residents of the park, such as the Gabrielino and the Juaneño.

“Beautiful park! Staff is always helpful and friendly. Big enough that you don’t feel crowded. Added bonus is the tide pools.” – Connie O., Anaheim

Crystal Lake Camp Ground (Azusa)

Looking for a rentable cabin to stay the night in or a sweet place to go fishing? Then you should definitely check out Crystal Lake Camp Ground! Open from late April to early December; it is the proud home of 191 campsites. In addition, you have the option of renting one of the three cabins available. Go bird watching, horseback riding, or stare out into the stars after the sun goes down. There is virtually no wrong way to enjoy this park – as long as you are following the rules, of course!

“Dope camping spot. I’m absolutely obsessed. Great hiking trails. Nice store if you forget anything. Every site has a fire pit and everything is first come first serve which is awesome.” – Kel M., Brockton, MA

San Mateo Campground (San Clemente)

If you’re into RV camping, then you will definitely want to check out San Mateo Campground! Like the Crystal Cove State Park, there is a beach shore nearby for you to explore, whether it be by walking or riding your bicycle. There are also clean, individual restrooms available among the campsites and on-site dump stations. It is also important to be aware that visitors have reported that there is not much cell service available up the hiking trails for some carriers.

“Came here to spend the day at the campground one weekend and loved our experience. The gate attendant was polite and guided us to our parking spot. We had a large parking spot enough for 2 SUVs. We loved our camping area that was allocated to us. It had a large wooden bench, a fire pit. And the bathrooms were clean.” – Lizelle P., Irvine
