Wintertime Orange County Events to Check Out- The Nutcracker Live

Traditions are a big part of the holiday season. Whether it’s building a gingerbread house with your little ones, watching your favorite Christmas movie with a cup of hot chocolate, or decorating the tree with heirloom ornaments, your family has probably accumulated its fair share of little traditions that the holidays just wouldn’t feel the same without. If part of your tradition includes watching The Nutcracker, you might be interested in attending The Southern California Dance Theatre’s live performance of this popular ballet. This event is one of many holiday Orange County events you can visit to get in the festive spirit.

The Nutcracker as a Christmas Tradition

The Nutcracker first premiered in 1892 and has since grown into a must-watch Christmas staple for plenty of families around the world. Beginning on Christmas Eve, it follows the story of Clara, a young girl, as she finds herself in an unlikely friendship with a Nutcracker Prince while they battle against the evil Mouse King. It’s a beautiful story full of whimsy, imagination, Christmas spirit, and dance.

What makes the Nutcracker extra special is that every theatre company retells the story in its own way. The SCDT is no different. If you’re interested in catching their own unique take on this classic ballet, you can check out their event page for more information.

About the Southern California Dance Theatre

Founded in 1994, the SCDT is a non- profit dance company that aims to preserve the spirit of performing arts in its surrounding community. Not only does it provide performers, both professional and aspiring, with a space to learn and perfect their craft, but it also gives the Orange County community the opportunity to enjoy beautiful theatre productions at a reasonable cost. So when you watch one of their productions, you can proudly say that you’re supporting talented performers in their mission to keep the dance alive.

COVID-19 Precautions

Along with providing your family with high-quality theatre performances, the SCDT aims to prioritize your family’s safety during these uncertain times. As COVID-19 cases continue to persist, the theatre has emplaced several precautions and regulations to help minimize the spread. The maximum capacity for every show will be capped at 100 guests. Along with this, ushers will be in the theatre to help guests find seats that are properly distanced from other parties, given CDC guidelines.
